About the event

UoB's research student-led Sexuality and Gender Studies Network, ROLES, is hosting its 11th Annual Conference! The call for papers is live and 250-word abstracts for 15-minute can be submitted until 12 midday, Friday 3 June on any aspect of Sexuality and Gender Studies. We would also ask you to submit a 50 word bio to be included in the conference programme.

We welcome speakers particularly from the arts, humanities, and social sciences. However, speakers from other disciplines are also very welcome to submit abstracts for consideration as long as the research relates to sexuality and gender studies.

Key dates

The call for papers closes on Friday 3 June at 12 midday. Abstracts and bios will need to be submitted by this date.

The conference programme will be published on Wednesday 8 June.

Registration for the conference closes on Monday 20 June at 12 midday.

The conference takes place via Zoom on Tuesday 21 June, 10am-4pm. Access will only be possible on the day for delegates who have pre-registered.

The ROLES Network follows UoB's guidance on netiquette for its online meetings: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/university/hefi/hefi-support-for-education-framework/netiquette.aspx

Our Network embraces inclusion at the heart of everything it does. We are a safe space for all UoB students, staff and external colleagues regardless of race, gender identity, sexuality, and disability; we oppose all forms of oppression and remind students and staff of UoB's commitment to creating a working and learning environment free from harassment and discrimination in which all staff, students and visitors to the University are treated with dignity and respect: https://intranet.birmingham.ac.uk/as/registry/policy/conduct/harassment/index.aspx
